More does not mean better

As a parent, you want the best for your child. You want them to succeed and excel in every aspect of life. However, you need to be aware of the delicate balance between too much and too little when it comes to extra-curricular activities. While it is important for your child to be involved in activities outside of school, it is equally important to not overdo it.

Research shows that children who are over-scheduled with extracurricular activities are at a higher risk of burnout. The pressure to perform well in multiple activities can take a toll on their mental and physical health. It can also lead to poor academic performance and a lack of motivation.

It is a common belief among parents in Hong Kong that the more activities their child participates in, the more skills they will learn. However, this is not necessarily true. While it is important for children to be exposed to a variety of experiences, it is equally important to allow them ample time for unstructured play and rest. Overloading a child's schedule with too many activities can lead to burnout and a lack of enjoyment for what they are doing.

Furthermore, by constantly rushing from one activity to another, children miss out on opportunities to create meaningful and memorable moments in their childhood. These moments can be as simple as spending quality time with family or friends, playing outside, or reading a book. By prioritizing these experiences, children can develop a sense of curiosity and wonder that will serve them well throughout their lives.

At KLC (Kiddikraft Learning Centre), we understand the importance of balance. We offer English Language friendly activities that will benefit your child without overwhelming them. For example, we have our very own library, a cozy environment where your child can relax and unwind with a book of their choice. It is a great way to encourage reading and creativity.

By allowing your child to take part in fewer activities, they will have more time to focus on each one, leading to a better overall performance. It is also important to encourage your child to take breaks and prioritize their mental and physical well-being.

Remember, more does not always mean better. At KLC, (Kiddikraft Learning Centre) we aim to provide a well-rounded experience for your child, with a focus on balance and mental health.
